During the summer of 2003, I moved to Brasstown, North Carolina to attend the John C. Campbell Folk School .The folk school is dedicated to keeping the traditional mountain arts and crafts alive by offering week-long classes and occasional weekend classes. You can learn anything from basketry to blacksmithing, calligraphy to cooking, soap-making to storytelling, and weaving to woodturning. This is an impressive school full of friendly artists from around the globe, but even the most creativity wary people can come home with something beautiful! Also, if you have the time and availability, I would highly suggest the Work/Study program offered by the folk school.
