But that's not important because the other day I saw this commercial and tracked it down on the internet. It's that important. Watch this video (please?) and then would someone explain to me...
what happened to freakin' Idaho?! Not only am I pretty offended, but my great Grandpa Vernal is rolling in his grave as I type. Watch out Lays, seriously. No one messes with the Idahoans.
I like these two very different takes on one of my favorite Christmas tunes, "Go Tell It On the Mountain." Can you tell who seems more excited to spread the "good word?" The Mormons, duh!
My uncle Scott shared this pleasing clip with me this morning and all I can say is, "How is it even possible that I haven't heard of Bobby McFerrin until now?" Go ahead and enjoy!
I remember hearing this song on KRCL a few years back and then just a couple of weeks ago, out of nowhere, it popped into my head. Funny how that happens. Its been stuck on repeat ever since. Listen- it's beautiful.
You'll probably hate it, but I don't care. This is ridiculous and ridiculously funny at the same time. I haven't laughed this hard, you know, the out loud kind, for a while.
There's something I really like about this, but I'm not sure what. Maybe it's waiting and watching for the one that's my own age, and the age of other people I love. Maybe it's noticing how the little kids and elders are so similar even though they are so far apart in age. Maybe it's seeing how different people age differently ( I love the 89-year-old in his library and I'll be darned if that's not me when I'm that old!) Anyway, hope you enjoy. Which one are you?
I've been cooking the entire day. No kidding- made six pies, a crapload of stuffing, a bunch of cheeseballs, and oh yeah, peeled ten pounds of potatoes. The whole time I was singing this song in my head. I couldn't resist. I've actually heard her sing this song live. My life is pretty amazing, right?
Many of you have asked about the title of this blog, "Wildwood." What does it mean? Where did it come from? Well, here you finally have it. It comes from the traditional American roots song "Wildwood Flower." This was one of the first instrumental songs I learned on the guitar and one of the most beautiful tunes my ears have heard. This video, to some I'm sure, comes across as corny, but boy are they wrong! Think about it! Three women each playing the guitar and yet, they're wearing lovely dresses and high heel shoes. I've always been inspired, so move over Sheryl Crow and all you other wannabes. I'll take these gals any day.
This video falls under the "so-so" category, but the song sounds great! I'm stoked to get my hands on Lucinda William's new album "Little Honey." Her raspy, regional voice and her casual hand clapping is so very cool. If only I could be more like her.
Saturday Night Live has finally hit the nail on the head. Several times, in fact, since the newest season started. This was too funny not to share. Sorry Grandpa!
After a lengthy two months in the hospital with Cliff, where his catheter was placed and removed three times... I can relate. P.S. I heart David Sedaris!
I've been playing guitar since I was 12 years old. Over the past 12 years I have sat in on many "jam sessions," hesitantly strumming along to songs I don't know. This video is funny to me and the elite few- those who actually know what a dulcimer is, wear socks with their Birkenstocks, and have a composting bin in their backyard. Welcome to the geek in me.
