Friday Eats

What's the weekend without a night out? Every Friday from here on out you can expect to read a restaurant review- who wants to eat at Chili's every date night? Not me! So, here's the beginning of my little attempt to help you spice it up.

Just to set the record straight, I am a food snob. Ketchup is disgusting, La Casita is WAY overrated, and a good curry is heaven. The other day I went to India Palace in Provo during their lunch buffet- best Indian food buffet I've been to. The food was hot, fresh, and tasty- seemed authentic. The ideal setting if it's your first time eating Indian food- you can try a little of everything without paying a lot, I think it was about 9 dollars without a drink or tip. I could have done without the sandalwood incense burning and smelling all hippish by the food, and there was a line when I went for seconds- so get there early. I'd love to hear your reviews!

Jenna,

I'm thoroughly convinced that I'm drawn to your blog because my spirit needs to drink the inspirational and insightful things you post each day. Now, when are you and I going to hang out so I can get to know the girl behind the awesome and amazing blog that has me coming back each day to quench my thirst?

p.s. my word verification to post this comment is "pootork." What the crap is that?

The Royal India is one block away from our home in Bountiful. We walk there at least once a month. Amazing!

But as someone who grew up in Springville, I have to adamantly disagree with your comment about La Casita. Not only is a good food, it's an institution!

Nate and I have had dinner there. It's great. Just bring gum if you are going to a movie afterwards!!

Oh, one more thing. I assume you've eaten at the Bombay House in Provo. If you haven't, turn off your computer now, grab a coat and Cliff and head out the door. It is fantastic!!

Also, Jen recently picked up a recipe book at Costco titled something like "A Culinary Road Trip Through India." If not the title, that's at least the theme. It's awesome! You get to see the subtle variations of the dishes as the author travels from region to region of the subcontinent.

Also, I recommend "Healthy Indian Cooking." The recipes are great, and use the high-octane cream, as it were, a bit more sparingly than most restaurants would or recipes books call for.

In case you can't tell by the two comments I've posted to this blog, Indian food is a Blackley-household favorite. If you need directions on where to find many of the ingredients you're not going to find at Reams or Allen's or Smiths, let us know. There are a few great Indian food supply stores in SLC. Cheers!

Ooo, once again a good food pic. Thank you for finding another decent Indian place. I'll have to check this one out!

I can't take credit for this photo- that's why I've decided to put my blog name at the bottom of all the photos I post on here from here on out! Sorry about any confusion.
