Is The Trade Off Really Worth It?

This just in-

Sometimes a flu shot works, and sometimes it doesn't. To increase your odds of staying well this winter, eat more apples, blueberries, broccoli, spinach, lettuce, and onions. They all contain quercetin, a powerful antioxidant shown to reduce the risk of flu in mice.

There are three things dreadfully wrong with this statement. First, it was published in the 2009 January edition of the Reader's Digest. Uh, oh! Does anyone really read this magazine? Honestly, its got to be up there with Us, In Touch, and Cosmo.

Second mistake. I mean, is the trade off really worth it? In order to get enough that qwerty oxidant, I'm sure you'd have to eat more than just a couple slivers of onion on your burger, or tossed in your spinach salad. We're talking eating an onion like it was an apple!
Seriously.
Eww.
Gross.

Thirdly. (Is that a word?) I'm sick of being compared to mice. It's been this way for years, but come on! How is it even the same? Even more pressing on my mind is this... how do we know the mice have the flu? Do they sneeze?
